Call hundreds of AI models through one API with OpenRouter

What you get

A working chat completion through OpenRouter that you can point at any listed model by changing the model string.

Prerequisites

An OpenRouter API key from https://openrouter.ai
Node.js (ESM project) or Python 3 with requests
Pick a model slug from https://openrouter.ai/models

Steps

TypeScript: install the SDK (ESM only; use await import() from CommonJS):

Create a client and stream a reply:

To switch providers, change only model (for example to another slug from the models page). The HTTP-Referer and X-OpenRouter-Title headers are optional and only used for app attribution.

Test it

Run either script. You should see the model's reply printed (streamed token by token in TypeScript).
