What you get
Since October 15, 2026 the Runway API can use Seedream 5.0 Flash, model seedream5_flash, on the text to image endpoint.

Prerequisites
- A Runway developer account with credits added in the Billing tab
- A Runway API secret in
RUNWAYML_API_SECRET
Steps
- Call the text to image endpoint as you do for other Runway image models.
- Set
modeltoseedream5_flash. - Set
ratiotoauto_1kif you do not want to pick a size yourself. - Optionally set
outputFormattojpegandoutputCountup to 4.
Test it
Send one text to image request with model set to seedream5_flash, ratio set to auto_1k and a short prompt. When the task finishes you should get one image URL, and your balance should drop by 2 credits.

- The changelog does not list the exact pixel sizes for each aspect ratio. Check the text to image API reference.
